Rory Tekulve: Head of Analytics - Miami University Baseball

Episode 6 Season 3 is out with Rory Tekulve. Rory is currently Head of Analytics at Miami-OH University and studies business analytics as his major. Rory has an internship this summer at The Strike Zone Facility located in Vermont. Rory is also head of pitching development for a summer baseball program called Cincinnati Royals.

Miami Ohio is becoming of the best data driven schools in the Midwest and is one of the best in the MAC (Mid-American Conference). Rory talks a ton about what it is like to be head of analytics at a Division One baseball program. Rory goes in-depth about how they pick specific students, about the different departments, and what they are doing to build the bridge between coaching and analytics.

This summer Rory will be working at The Strike Zone Facility located in Vermont. The Strike Zone has a ton of great instructor but he is excited to work with Zac Morain who is the Director of Player Development and worked previously at Driveline. He will be working with all different technologies such as ProPlayAI to understand the biomechanics of pitching. Rory is very interested in biomechanics as a whole for pitching and he believes working at this facility will help him a lot to learn an overall basis.

Rory is becoming a product of new age player development. Rory’s goal is to become a data driven developer with the knowledge of biomechanics and strength/conditioning development in pitchers. I am very excited to hear about Rory’s experience this summer and uses what he learns at Miami Ohio!
